Casa Amavi: The Haven OBX

The Strategy

Last year, a dear friend of mine, Emily Allen, purchased her first rental property in Outer Banks, NC. After spending years as a brand designer and strategist, she had a vision a more tangible creative outlet, where her design work could come to life in a physical way. She founded Casa Amavi as a resource for other short-term rental owners to help them make the most out of their properties, attract their ideal guests, and meet their financial goals. Emily (formerly Amavi Studio) has done design work for me for years, so I was so eager to see her space in person and bring her brand shoot to life.

We really wanted to capture the energy of the house with our brand shoot. We shot the interior listing images for Airbnb, but also wanted to incorporate some lifestyle images to really convey the vibe and atmosphere of the property. Think retro meets Gen Z, from the colors to the unique furniture, complete with disco balls in the back yard. We had a few models come in to help us achieve the lived-in look. We also took some photos around Kill Devil Hills to capture the beachy atmosphere.

My favorite part about this shoot is that working with Emily as the creative director was an absolute dream. Emily always has such a strong vision for her projects when we work together, so being able to put those pieces together and bring it to life is such a cool experience for me. Sometimes I feel like we can read each others’ minds. It’s so much fun to work with her, and I hope we continue to have creative projects together for years to come.
