Atlanta Branding Session for Branding Specialist Amavi Studio
It’s no secret that Emily of Amavi Studio has been one of my best business pals since I shot her wedding in early 2018. I can’t count on one hand how much work we’ve done for each other. It’s been SO FUN to watch each others’ businesses grow over the years. The coolest part is that even through the growth and change, we can still work together on new projects. Naturally, when Emily asked to schedule another Atlanta branding session, I was thrilled. In 2020, I’ve started approaching brand shoots a little differently. Before, it was pretty easy to show up with a camera and make whatever it was that I showed up to, work. Not a bad starting point, but I knew I could be serving my clients in a better way. So to kick off the new year, I completely restructured my services to approach each shoot more strategically. To deliver a quality product, I need to fully understanding a brand’s overall strategy and goals for the shoot. Emily is a branding specialist and uses her expertise to develop her own brand identity. Her messaging is already pretty clear. However, life changes and so does business. We chatted about her current competitors, what she likes and doesn’t like about her existing imagery, and how she plans on using her new images. We also talked about props, color schemes, and other ways to keep the images on-brand.
Goals for the Shoot
One of Emily’s main goals of the shoot was to capture her transition to becoming a mother. She’s expecting a little girl this spring, so she wanted to bring her audience behind the scenes to capture the reality of being a working mom. However, she won’t be pregnant forever, so we didn’t want to capitalize too much on the bump. We accentuated it in some, but also shot to hide it in a few so she can use the content long after baby comes.Emily also wanted to show the pre-work that comes with designing a brand identity, such as sketching, designing mood boards, and other tasks. The beauty is that she can do this anywhere. We set up two separate locations to show how her work can be done on the go. Inspiration often comes from outside the house. Sometimes taking her work to a coffee shop helps Emily get a fresh perspective for a brand. Lastly, we wanted to showcase different products, such as tote bags, business cards, and even T-shirts, to show the versatility of Emily’s designs. Design doesn’t always have to stay in a digital format. These images give her clients an idea of what their products will look like out in the world. So, how did we do? Do you love this session as much as I do? Let’s get your Atlanta branding session on the books!
